Dark cassis fruit notes with lifted mint and subtly toasty characters and fine tannins delivering excellent length. Finishing in Irish whisky barrels softens the strong tannins to yield smoothness and adds substantial richness to the full palate. A great wine for poker night, backyard barbecues or Friday nights with your favorite movie and pizza. Or try with bolder fare, such as a rack of lamb or chargrilled eggplant.
In 1847, along the banks of Jacob’s Creek in Australia's Barossa wine region, Johann Gramp planted his first vineyard. His vision was to create great tasting wines that reflect the true character of the grapes and the land. To this day Jacob's Creek lives and breathes this vision by producing wines that showcase how each grape variety expresses itself when shaped by the soil and the sun of Australia.
To make Double Barrel, Jacob's Creek winemakers first craft beautifully rich red wines from superior quality grapes and mature them in traditional wine barrels. Then, using a unique Double Barrel technique, they finish them in aged whisk(e)y barrels to build additional layers of complexity and an incredibly smooth finish.
